Differences in Documenting
There are several ways to document information. It is up to the writer to choose the proper application to ensure his information reaches his intended audience. Which application to utilize is best decided by what information is being conveyed.
When using a word processing application, you can write anything you wish in almost any style. Pictures and graphs can often be added depending on the information being conveyed. Word Processing applications also have various options you can insert, such as bullet points, format paragraphs, and change fonts. You can include almost anything in a word-processing document, and the application is one of the easiest to convey information.
One problem many users encounter is with formatting. In Microsoft Word, the formatting option defaults to keep track of the formatting in the document. This option will sometimes change the formatting of your style based on what was previously entered. The way to stop this is to turn off the keep track of formatting option (Aitken, et al. 2014).
Spreadsheets are used when you want to convey data that is in some way linked together. It helps users visualize statistical data, timelines, and narrative structures (Mahmud et al., 2024), and is a widely embraced tool in statistical analysis. Spreadsheets allow users to group similar types of data together and filter the information as needed. Spreadsheets are a great option if your data periodically changes or you need only certain data at specific times. Spreadsheets are most often used in work environments.
A presentation app, such as Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides, is best used when presenting information to an audience. Presentation apps allow the user to include text, pictures, data, animation, and sounds in numerous slides to convey information. The apps have already created themes, animations, and pictures to assist the creator, or they can create their own. Presentation apps are much more creative and visual than word processing or spreadsheets to convey data, but they are also more complicated to perfect.
There are many ways to convey your thoughts and opinions,
research and data. While it is your
choice to use whatever application you like best, you should consider the type
of data to be conveyed and your intended audience to ensure you pick the best application for each project. For this assignment, I felt word processing was the best way for me to share my schedule.
